Gita Bhavan in The Banks of Brahma Sarovar Kurukshetra

Gita Bhavan is also located on the northern banks of Brahma Sarovar. It is quite close to Sri Jairam Vidyapeeth. There is a tall Dharamshala building in front of Gita Bhavan, so I did not notice it in the first instance. There is a narrow dusty path near these buildings that led me to the Gita Bhavan. Gita Bhavan is on an elevation of about a hundred metres from the ground, so the climb can be quite tough for aged people. Gita Bhavan is a beautiful edifice but it is a pity that it is completely hidden from the main road because of the Dharamshala in front of it.

When I reached the top, I had to turn to my left and walk a few metres. The main temple was the Sri Krishna Temple. It had an idol of Krishna, flanked by idols of Shiva and Durga. To the left was an idol of Hanuman. Near by, was an idol of Ganesha and ten idols depicting various forms of Durga. On the right side of the altar was an idol of Krishna. The entire floor was covered with a white mattress and the ceiling was well-decorated with a colourful velvet cloth. The walls had beautiful carvings and pictures depicting the pastimes of Krishna.

To the left of the Sri Krishna Temple was a Shiva Temple. This had a Shiva Linga at the centre and idols of Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesha behind it. To the left of the Shiva Temple was the Vishwa Swaroop Sri Vamana Bhagwan Mandir. The idol depicted Lord Vishnu, in His Vamana Avatara, crushing King Bali. To the right of the Sri Krishna Temple was the Sri Lakshmi Narayan Temple. It had a blue-coloured idol of Lord Narayan and a white idol of Goddess Lakshmi.
